How can I enroll my dog?

If you feel that your dog meets all of our requirements, the first step is to fill out our online application. Once we receive it, you will be contacted within two business days to schedule a time for a temperament evaluation. In the mean time, we ask that you make sure your dog is current with his/her vaccinations (Rabies, DHLPP, Canine Influenza and Bordatella). You will need to bring proof of this during the evaluation.

Why does my dog need to attend daycare before boarding?

Since the majority of your dogs' overnight stay will be spent interacting with other dogs and staff, we need to make sure he /she will be comfortable in our facility and have a fun time. For this reason, we require new clients to attend at least 2 days of daycare and wait 30 days prior to staying overnight with us.   During these visits, we work to help your dog become familiar with our environment and staff, so it won't be a big deal if you are away for 5 hours or 5 days. This also gives staff a chance to get to know your dog and any special needs they might have before they stay overnight with us. Also, if at anytime during your dogs introductory visits he/she is having a tough time, we will be able to contact you immediately.

Why do you require a temperament evaluation?

For the safety of everyone, it is important that all dogs interact positively together. For this reason, we require that all dogs pass a temperament evaluation. We want to make sure that the dogs that attend Downtown Dogs are able to get along with humans (staff), large groups of dogs, and be OK away from mom and dad. Dogs that are anxious, nervous or frightened would not enjoy themselves. Most importantly,we want this to be a fun and safe  experience for them.

What are the hours of the temperament evaluations?

Evaluations take approximately one hour in length. They are held on Monday through Friday during the hours of 9 am to 11:30 am.  If you have a puppy under 6 months old, you have the option of doing an evaluation at our Saturday socials. Please Note: Due to safety concerns, we do not allow children under 13 years in a dog evaluation.

Watch the Dogs

Downtown Dogs maintains an 'Open Door' policy and encourages owners to check in on their dogs throughout the day. Please feel free to checkout the dogs, but we do ask that you not leave the cameras up, when not watching. The live video is bandwidth intensive and will slow down as more people watch.
